U-9 MATCH REPORTS 21-2-2010
Maree/Oranmore Dynamos 8 Corrib Celtic 0
Oranmore Maree Start well. They were playing fluid football and were very tight in defence. The cold weather was making things difficult for Michael Officer in Goals. Maree/Oranmore were quickly ahead and by half time they were 5 – 0 ahead. In the second half fresh legs brought a revived vigour to the team. Mark O’Brien bagged himself a hat trick and there were other goals from Kealan Darcy-Carr, Ronan Hanniffy, Stephen O Connor, Jack Morrisey and Ronan O Donoghue . There were great performances from Michael Officer, Kealan Forgarty, Malo Salmon, Thomas McFarland and Jack Morrisey.
Maree/Oranmore Dynamos 3 Colga Aztecs 3
What a match. This had everything. Maree/Oranmore started very slowly and by half time they were down by a goal. Colga were strong and pressing hard. Maree/Oranmore’s defence had to be at it’s best. But this Maree/Oranmore team never gives up. Great teamwork and closing down of Colga midfield allowed Dynamos to create some chances. Soon after half time they were back on level terms. Maree/Oranmore continued to press on and soon after they were three goals to one up. Colga came back and soon were only 3 -2 down. What a nail biting finish with five minutes to go. Unfortunately Colga scored in the last minute to earn a draw. Jack Morrissey and Thomas McFarland were outstanding in defence and Daniel Burke was great behind them in goals. Malo Salmon is a true Dynamo. Scorers were Ronan Hannify, Stephen O’Connor and Mark O’Brien.
Maree/Oranmore Rockets 2 Colga Aztecs 5
Maree/Oranmore Rockets suffered a 5-2 defeat in this game. Rockets started well and went 1 up after 10 mins through Ronan Asgari.
Colga fought back to lead 3-1 at half time. Cillian Doyle pulled a goal back for Rockets just after the half from a penalty to make it 3-2 to Colga.
Colga finished the game stronger and added 2 more goals before the end.
Best players for Rockets on the day were Ronan Asgari, Cillian Doyle and Tommy Hennessy who made some great tackles.
Maree/Oranmore Stars 5 Colga Titans 4
Maree/Oranmore Stars had a great win over Colga by a scoreline of 5-4.
Stars raced into a 3 goal lead through Jack Grealish, Liam Slevin Darren Costello.
Colga pulled a goal back to leave it 3-1 at half time.
Liam Slevin supplied another neat finish to make it 4-1 to the Stars who by
now looked very comfortable. Colga scored again to make 4-2 but Darren
Costello quickly made it 5-2 to the Stars. With 3 mins left and the Stars cruising
to victory Colga scored 2 quickfire goals to make it 5-4 and set up a tense finish,
but the Stars held out for a fantastic victory.
Best Players on the day for stars were Liam Slevin, Jack Grealish and Darren Costello.
Match Report Sunday, February 7th. 2010
Another impressive display from Maree/Oranmore Rockets. Week on week this Rockets team is improving. Corrib Celtic came into this game with an excellent record. They had scored in every game so far and were unbeaten, that record was ended by Rockets. The fact that they did not score was down to some impressive goalkeeping and defending Eoghan Geraghty and very good tackling from Tommy Hennessy and Ronan Asgari. Rockets scored midway through the 1st half with an excellent strike from Ronan Asgari that took a slight deflection on the way in. This game was to turn out to be a hard fought win for Rockets, Corrib Celtic battled hard to get into this game and had a couple of late efforts that went narrowly past the post. Conor Loughran and Oisin Smith worked hard to help Rockets win this game. This was another excellent team effort to win the game and all the lads played a part in the win.

Maree/Oranmore Rockets 2 Corofin United Kings 0
Maree/Oranmore Rockets are starting to really gel as a team. We can see improvement each week in this team. This game was played mainly in the Corofin half of the pitch. Rockets kept attacking for most of this and the fact that the Rockets did not score the opening goal 'til 10minutes from time was down some excellent defensive work by Corofin. In the 1st half Rockets kept attacking, with Oisin Smith, Conor Loughran, Cillian Doyle, Ronan Asgari and Tommy Hennessy all having opportunities to score, but Corofin were defending in numbers. The 2nd half was more of the same. Chances came and went and just as we were starting wonder whether Rockets would get the goals their play deserved, up pops Conor Loughran with an excellent goal. This meant that Corofin had to come and attack Rockets if the were to get anything from the game. They duly responded and had a couple of chances of their own and but for some excellent defensive work from Cillian Keane, Eoghan Geraghty, Hansley Mercure and Eoghan Carr they might have got back into the game. In fact it took a last ditch tackle from the ever impressive Ronan Asgari to stop a certain Corofin goal late on. In the last minute an impressive display was capped off when Kingsley Mercure played in Cillian Doyle for the 2nd goal that both Cillian and Rockets richly deserved.

MATCH REPORT SUNDAY JANUARY 24th.
Maree-Oranmore Rocketts 2 v 1 Craughwell
This was an excellent win for Rocketts. Their 1st half was the best they have played this Season. With an excellent performance in goal, Eoghan Geraghty was one of the main reasons Craughwell did not score in the first half. Rocketts 2 goals came in the 1st half excellently scored by both Tommy Hennessy and Cillian Doyle. Maree-Oranmore Rocketts led 2 - 0 at half time and looked to be in control. Midway through the 2nd half Craughwell scored a deserved goal and pushed hard for the equaliser, but it did not come. Rocketts defended in numbers. It was a complete team effort in the 2nd half to make sure the result went the way of Rockets. Oisin Smith, Ronan Asgari, Cillian Keane, Kinsley and Hansley Mercure all played their part.
MATCH REPORT FOR UNDER 9s – SUNDAY 17TH JANUARY 2010
Oranmore Maree Dynamos 1 Vs Corrib Celtic 3
Oranmore Maree Dynamos went down to a talented Corrib Celtic side. The Oranmore Maree Dynamos side were very good in the first half and were well on top. They scored a great goal through Ronan O’Donoghue, but against the run of play Corrib scored. Good defensive work by Thomas McFarland, Scott Doyle and good goalkeeping by Michael Officer kept the score at 1-1. Corrib began to play better with the wind in second half as the Oranmore Maree Dynamos start to tire. Corrib went on to score two more goals, while a good save from Corrib prevented the excellent Malo Salmon from scoring.
Maree-Oranmore Rockets 0 Vs 1 Maree-Oranmore Stars
It has to be said that this game was one of the best games of the weekend. It was a game that had everything. Excellent defensive and attacking play. The fact that only one goal was scored is nearly unbelievable. It was a very even game and the fact that Rockets did not score was down to the impressive goalkeeping ofJack Grealish and some excellent defending from Thomas O' Dowd and Jack McHugh. Dylan Cox and Sean Delaney who scored the only goal of the game, played some great football in midfield. Upfront Liam Slevin of the Stars was always a handfull for the Rocket's defenders. Rockets were very unlucky not to have scored, Conor Loughran, Cillian Doyle, Tommy Hennessy and Eoghan Geraghty all had good efforts on goal that on another day might have gone in. Ronan Asgari and Ronan Hanniffy had good games in midfield.Rockets did a lot of attacking in this game but could have conceded another goal but for great defending byCillian Keane and Eoghan Geraghty
ROCKETS 1 Vs DYNAMOS 3
The u-9 tournament got underway on a very cold and frosty Sunday morning.
The first game was contested between two Oranmore/Maree teams the Rockets and the Dynamos. Dynamos started very strongly and opened the scoring after 5 minutes with a strike from Cillian Doyle that gave rockets keeper Rory Finn O’Regan no chance.
The Dynamos nearly doubled their lead after 10 minutes when a kick out from the Rockets 'keeper fell straight to Cillian Doyle and his first time volley from 20 yards whistled just passed the post.
With the Dynamos midfield featuring Malo Salmon, Sean Delaney and Cillian Doyle very much on top it wasn’t long before they doubled their lead with a neat finish from Sean Delaney leaving it 2-0 to Dynamos at half time
The Rockets certainly up’d their game in the second half and had an early chance to pull a goal back when they were awarded a dubious penalty but Hansley Mercure couldn’t take advantage and pushed the spot kick just wide of the right hand post. Rockets player Tommy Hennessy had a great chance after 25 minutes but Michael Officer made a fine save. Jack Morrissey also had a couple of chances for Rockets as they came into game more and more.
After a slight lull from Dynamos they managed to go 3-0 up with that man Cillian Doyle again with the finish. Rockets pulled a goal back shortly afterwards with a cool finish from Tommy Hennessy.
Man of the match Cillian Doyle thought he had scored his third and Dynamos fourth goal but it was ruled out for an infringement. Rockets certainly had their chances in the second half to even up the score but Dynamo’s proved to be just a little bit too strong for them on the day.
Rockets best performances came from Tommy Hennessy, Jack Morrissey and Rory Finn O’Regan while for Dynamos Sean Delaney, Michael Officer and Malo Salmon stood out but star of the show was certainly Cillian Doyle.
MAREE/ORANMORE STARS 0 Vs COLGA COMETS 2
Eoghan Geraghty and Eoghan Carr played well in goals but despite their very best efforts were unable to keep Colga out of the net.
Jack Morrissey was unlucky not to score as were Dylan Cox and Mark O’Brien who had some great chances and made some very strong attacks. The Colga defence held very tight to keep the Stars out and the score board clear.
Mark Pollard , Jack Grealish and Brendan Mahony contributed to some great teamwork but unfortunately Mark had to come off through injury.
Thomas McFarland, Kinsley Mercure and Cillian Keane played well for their first match, setting up plenty of opportunities, which hopefully they will reproduce for their next match on Sunday 20th in Oranmore.
