St. Columbas Credit Union Invitational Tournament

The final day of the tournament is next Sunday March 14th starting at 2pm. In addition to our main sponsor we also Thank Anchor Safety, Aran Sports, Carpuccino Coffee & Rooney Auctioneers for supporting the Tournament. Thank You to Noel Greaney and his loyal team who help with teas and coffees.

This website will devote a Page each to the four different Age categories for the duration of the Tournament.

Coaching News
Good Luck to the following coaches who will participate in Kick Start I next weekend in Mervue: Tony Lernihan, Leo Quinlan, Declan Reck & Pat Keane. Another course takes place on  March 27th. under the giudance of John Morris Burke. The club will cover the cost. Further details are available from Martin Horgan on (087) 980 64 89.

An FAI Kick Start 1 Course aimed specifically at adult ladies is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 25th 2010. This is an ideal opportunity for our hard working mums, aunties or even older sisters to build on their expertise and get involved in the coaching side of our club. The 2010 FAI Aviva girls Easter Camp (age 7-11) will take in the NUI Galway Kingfisher Club from March 29th to April 1st. FAI coaches will be involved in the camp which runs from 10am to 1pm on each of the 4 days. The camp cost is €60 with each child receiving a full set of FAI camp gear and water bottle. Girls in Terryland for Galway United v Bray Wanderers
Our Under 8 and Under 11 Girls squads will participate in half-time mini matches this coming Friday (March 12th.) in Terryand Park. It marks the
opening home game of the 2010 Airtricity League of Ireland campaign for Galway United. Parents & Girls will receive more details in the post this week. Any club member wishing to go to the game can avail of a reduced admission price by contacting Gerry Burke (087 900 99 53) before Friday.

Schools Soccer

Hard Luck to Calasantius College who lost out to St. Mary's College Galway in the Connacht Schools Quarter Final on Friday last. Alan Dempsey scored for Calasantius. On behalf of our club we thank Cathal McBride Jnr for his work with the Calasantius squad which included the following players from our club: Michael Cleary, Shane O'Toole, Conor McNevin, Brendan Tully, Ronan Cullen & Brian Walsh.

Under 7 Trip to Furbo

The Under 7 Boys group went to Furbo on February 13th. Thanks to John Treacy who provided photographs of one of the squads which participated on the day. You can see these pictures here.

Table Quiz
Maree Oranmore AFC will hold a General Knowledge table quiz on Thursday, March 25th. for parents of club members and all the community of Maree and Oranmore. This event is due to take place in Kudos Night Club (Keane's Bar) in Oranmore & further details will be available soon.

 Galway United - New Appointments
Best Wishes to the new Galway United team management led by Sean Connor and assisted by Oranmore
resident Gareth Gorman and Claddagh man Billy Clery. Gareth is a former Galway United player and worked as Sean Connor's assistant last season at Dundalk F.C. He also spent a season with Oranmore F.C.

We know that many of our members are keen and regular visitors to Terryland to support Galway United in the National League of Ireland. The club is currently offering Season Tickets for 2010 at a reduced rate. All the details are here.

Oranmore & Maree Community Development Associations
We acknowledge the great suport of the two Community Development Associations in the parish. As a volunteer club providing healthy activity for more than 400 children and young adults (boys and girls) in the community we are very grateful to have the local community facilities managed by the two assocaitions available to us.
