Shared Progress – Shared Goals
On August 31st. 2007, The Galway Clinic and Maree Oranmore Juvenile Soccer Club launched a three year sponsorship programme aimed at enhancing the goals of both organisations for the better health of all with whom they come in contact.
The partnership between The Galway Clinic and mare Oranmore Juvenile Soccer Club was unveiled jointly by the General Manager of the Galway Clinic, Mr Denis Coen and the Chairman of Maree Oranmore Juvenile Soccer Club, Mr. Martin Horgan.
The launch of the sponsorship deal was attended by leading figures from the world of Galway Soccer, public representatives, and coaches and soccer players from the club itself. Representatives of other sporting organisations in Oranmore also attended.
Mayor of Galway Tom Costello commended the club on its progressive initiative in offering positive health and social interaction to the young people of Oranmore and Maree. He congratulated particularly, the parents and coaches who give so much of their time voluntarily for the benefit of the whole community. The Mayor noted that ventures such as that undertaken by Maree Oranmore Juvenile soccer club are being mirrored throughout the city and county and that they offer a brighter future to the young people in those communities. He called on his fellow public representatives who attended the launch to do everything in their power to provide the facilities and infrastructure necessary to support the huge voluntary effort being undertaken in local communities like Maree and Oranmore.
The General Manager of the Galway Clinic, Mr. Denis Coen noted that he had been impressed from the outset at the professional approach taken by senior club officers Liam O’Carroll and Martin Horgan as well as JJ Beirne in negotiating the partnership between the two organisations. He added that he was confident the deal would benefit both The Galway Clinic and Maree Oranmore Juvenile Soccer Club into the future and that he was very happy for the The Galway Clinic to be associated with the continuing growth of such a progressive club.
Club Chairman Martin Horgan welcomed the announcement of the sponsorship deal with The Galway Clinic and thanked them for their generosity and faith in what the club is trying to achieve in its catchment area.
He welcomed all invited guests including the principal officers of the Galway and District League Mr. Tony Samuels and Ms. Geraldine Tracy as well as Mr. Alan Eastwood and Mr. Bernard Carr from the Oranmore Junior Soccer Club.
Vice Chairman, Liam O’Carroll, who acted as MC for the proceedings, noted the parallels between the journeys taken so far by both The Galway Clinic and Maree Oranmore Juvenile Soccer Club. Both are relatively newly established and both are committed to promoting health and well being for the groups they work with.
The event took place in the panoramic Conference Room on the third floor of The Galway Clinic, which afforded spectacular views of Galway Bay, the Clare hills and the hinterland of Oranmore. The event was also covered by Galway Bay FM’s Mike Rafferty.
